Awesome Pack. Great price. Brand new!

This pack is a work of art. Northface take note.

Background: I am working professional but my side hobby is hopping freight trains (yes I am a hobo and have 25K miles riding the rails). I require heavy duty gear that can stand the rigors of riding trains. Normal camping packs dont cut it for the stresses that I put on my grear. When I discovered the Molle II Medium Rucksack I knew right away this was what I needed. I looked around both on eBay and on a variety of military surplus sites and Mcguire was the only place that had the complete pack system (bag, shoulder straps, frame and hip belt). On top of that it was an amazing price + free shipping.

The pack: These were manufactured roughly 10 years ago and used by troops in the mountains of Afghanistan. They were designed because the army needed a pack that was larger then the assault pack but smaller then the ILBE pack (which I also own). It is heavy duty Coradura with YKK zippers and uses a modular Molle component system. A variety of components can be found easily online to extend the size and uses of the pack. My only critical feedback is the thickness of the shoulder straps. Compared to all the other components of the pack they seem to be thinner then what I would expect. But I now know they were designed for troops wearing body armor under neath, thus large padded straps were not needed (and would get in the way during a fire fight). These medium rucksack straps are next to impossible to find on their own, thus buying Mcguires complete pack system is the way to go. This is the pack that I plan to use for the rest of my life for freight hopping, 3-7 day camping trips or even as carry on luggage while traveling streamlined in Asia. I bought a second one just in case parts become scarce in the future. Thanks Mcguire!
