History of the Henley
The most famous early wearer of the soon-to-be popular Henley undershirt was the well-known actor, Wallace Beery. He wore the Henley undershirt in so many movies, that the undershirt was called by his name. The Henley became popular after GI’s started coming back from Vietnam with the military issued undershirt. The new adopters, having spent their early years hearing their parents call it the “Wallace Beery Shirt” continued with that name for a while. Eventually it reverted to just being called a Henley, but for those in the know, it will always be a Wallace Beery shirt.

So awesome to track down this timeless original style Henley shirt with the proper placket and large cat’s eye buttons instead of those puny buttons you find on fashion type versions available everywhere. This is what a real authentic Wallace Berry Henley undershirt is supposed to be! Off white slub cotton/wool mix makes it so traditional. Awesome! A+++
This is the second Wallace Berry shirt I’ve ordered because I couldn’t stop wearing the first one day after day and I needed to wash it. It’s the best!
I was issued 2 sets of the tops and bottoms many years ago and was disappointed when the military went to different type thermals. This shirts are the most warm and comfortable. I purchased 3 tops over the years. I purchased 2 for a female friend and she raves about them. I know the warehouse supply will dry up one day. Some company should take over manufacturing them again exactly the way they were made years ago! Chief Pat
