History of the M-65

The M-65 field coat was first issued to the U.S. Armed Services in 1965 as a replacement for the M-51 field coat. The M-65 represented the culmination of field coat design, drawing on the technological developments of the M-43 and M-51 field coats used in WWII and Korea. The M-65 incorporated the bi-swing back and oversized design originally developed for the M-41 to provide more room for soldiers to carry everything from personal items to extra ammunition.

Stitching started to come apart after a few washes.

Very nice old stock!

This is not a reproduction or fashionable M65, but much better one.
Mine was an old stock made by a government contractor.
Although this is not the real army surplus, the construction and the material are great.
I purchased SR and I am 5'10. I can wear a champion heavy sweat parka underneath. Hope this helps.

Definitely old surplus - needs TLC and repairs

Definitely a used, surplus jacket. Needs some stitching replaced, zippers and snaps needed to be cleaned and oiled - showing signs of oxidization due to some sort of moisture or exposure. Honestly, disappointing.
