The John Ownbey Leather A-2 Flight Jacket is a military style, cold weather flight jacket. It provides warmth and style from the minute you put it on.
History of the A-2 Flight Jacket
The A-2 was originally designed and invented for use by Army Air Corps pilot, navigators, and bombers, who would often decorate their "bomber jackets" with colorful artwork and squadron patches. The A-2 was awarded upon completion of basic flight training, originally only to commissioned officers, but by the end of World War II, also to enlisted crew. Wearing the A-2 was a point of pride among those who got one, similar to wearing his "wings". After being taken out of use, in 1988 the US Air Force personnel were successful in bringing the iconic jacket back. There are a few differences in the new jacket including regulation forbidding painting on the jackets.
