The John Ownbey Leather A-2 Flight Jacket is a military-style, cold-weather flight jacket. It provides warmth and style from the minute you put it on.

History of the A-2 Flight Jacket

The A-2 was initially designed and intended for use by Army Air Corps pilots, navigators, and bombers, who would often decorate their "bomber jackets" with colorful artwork and squadron patches. The A-2 was awarded upon completion of basic flight training, initially only to commissioned officers and the enlisted crew by the end of World War II. Wearing the A-2 was a point of pride among those who got one, similar to wearing his "wings." After being taken out of use in 1988, the US Air Force personnel successfully brought the iconic jacket back. There are a few differences in the new jacket, including regulations forbidding painting on the jackets.

Pretty good value

A good vintage style A-2 for the money.

Good Jacket

Took off one star because there are no hand warmer pockets.

Bargain price.

The price of a leather flight jacket tends to be pretty steep. This A-2 jacket is a bargain. It does tend to hang more like a navy G-1, that is not as 'sleek' as the A-2 looks in pictures. But, the price is right and it looks fairly authentic (no hand warmer pockets). So, I'll look past the slightly 'puffy' look (or maybe I'm the puffy one) and enjoy a truly affordable flight jacket. I would actually say 4.5 stars if you pressed me.
