Military Part#: MIL-C-43455

The M65 field jacket shielded soldiers from the elements throughout the Vietnam War and beyond. Due to the introduction of the ECWCS layering system, it was recently phased out. This genuine US military issue has useful added features that sets it apart from other field jackets. There is a hideaway hood which easily zips into the collar, extra pockets for holding your gear, adjustable sleeves with Velcro straps, and more!

History of M-65 Jacket

The M-1965 jacket was introduced into US military service in 1965 to replace the M-1951 field jacket which was an improvement on the M-1943 field jacket design. The M-65 field jacket was widely used by United States Forces during the Vietnam War in which the jacket became useful for troops serving in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam, especially in cool weather conditions following monsoonal rains. It was a standard issue to US troops in several other wars all around the globe as well. Originally introduced in OG-107, it is now produced in a large variety of colors and patterns, including military camouflages.

Good Buy

Scored two vintage M-65 field jackets was a solid win, especially with one being a confirmed legit early example.

The first one has an intact-label one without epaulets is particularly cool—those 1st pattern M-65s (produced only around 1965-1966) are quite rare compared to the later versions that added shoulder epaulets starting in 1966 onward. They're prized by collectors here in the Philippines for that short production window right at the start of the design's long run (which lasted decades until the mid-2000s for U.S. issue). For the second one, it looks really beat-up. I swapped a heavy-duty #10 brass YKK zipper to replace the old one.

Both are now in the cleaners for some heavy duty cleaning.

Great Jacket!

I was a little worried about what I was gonna get. The jacket was in great shape and I am very happy with my purchase. Gonna get it a liner and wear it this winter!

The real deal in OD Green.

The field jacket I received was in great condition considering it is around 40 years old. I did have to pretreat with stain remover and soak with laundry detergent for several hours. After changing the water 4 times and washing twice, the jacket came out looking great. Just be prepared that the jacket might be filthy.
